Submitted By Stephen Bell on Tuesday, January 7, 2014
For the second straight tournament, The U19 Sault Ice Hawks have struck gold. The Ice Hawks captured the Championship this past weekend, at the Cambridge Turbos Annual Ringette Tournament. The Ice Hawks started strong, defeating Pickering 6 to 1, then overcoming the host Turbos 5 to 2. In their final game of the round robin, the Sault lost a hard fought 3 to 2 game against Arnprior. Despite the loss, the Ice Hawks qualified for the final.

In a rematch against Arnprior, the teams played to a 1 to 1 tie at the end of regulation. The Sault relied on a strong team effort, and solid goaltending from Gavin Bell. Emilya Junor scored for the Ice Hawks in regulation. Just 28 seconds into sudden death overtime, Katie Higgs came off the wing and scored the winning goal just inside the post.

Team members include: Gavin Bell, Kaylin Paquette, Faye Crozier, Caitlyn Rogozinski, Kelsey O’Donnell, Katelyn Desgagne, Emily Giagvanoli, Katie Higgs, Krista Maeumbaed, Emilya Junor, Taylor Elliott, and Halli Nantais.

The coaching staff includes: Debbie Desgagne, Carl Desgagne, Rhonda Bateman, and Steve Bell.
