SAULT ICE HAWKS TAKE FLIGHT TO THE NATIONS CAPITAL
Submitted By Dennis Campbell on Monday, February 6, 2017
The Sault Ringette Association’s U16 “A” travelling team was in action over the weekend in Ottawa at the Gloucester Cumberland Ringette Association annual tournament.  The “Ice Hawks” finished the round robin portion of the tournament a perfect 4-0 with wins over the host team; GCRA 3-2, Gatineau 2-0, Upper Ottawa Valley 6-2 and Oshawa 3-2.

In the gold medal match the Sault prevailed for a second straight game over Oshawa 3-2 with a strong collective effort giving the Ice Hawks the victory. This was the third straight tournament win for the Ice Hawks as they also took top honors this season in both Pickering and Burlington. The team is comprised of 15 and 16 year old girls from the SRA and is coached by Bruce Graham, Debbie Desgagne, Carl Desgagne and Marc Baril.

This concludes the regular season for the Sault Ice Hawks whose last loss was some 3 months ago on November 12th and have not dropped a decision in their last 12 contests. This seasons overall record of 11 wins 2 ties and 2 losses is good for 24 points and second place in the 17 team provincial division. Next action for the Ice Hawks will be at the provincial U16A championships in Pickering March 16-19.

The Sault Ice Hawks would like to thank the following sponsors for their continuing support this season; Leslie Advertising, Reyco Automotive Supply LTD, BJ Stocks Wildfire Investigations, Feifel Broadbent Gualazzi Personal Injury Law Firm, TD Canada Trust, Tim Horton's, Strictly Confidential, Main Street Pharmacy, KC Pottery, Superior Dental, Cliff Printing and Helix IT INC.
