ICE HAWKS LAND IN PICKERING!
Submitted By SRC on Friday, December 7, 2018
Four of your Sault Ice Hawks travel teams made the trip to
the 41st annual Pickering Ringette Tournament this past weekend.
The U10 team was playing its first tournament of the year and got out to a great start playing an exciting game with a win against the Markham Bears. Although the remaining games were losses on the score sheet, the team gained valuable experience with many players being introduced to tournament play.
In the U14A division, this developing team faced stiff competition against some seasoned teams. Although the wins didn’t come, the Hawks played with passion and a never quit approach. The effort displayed by the team all weekend is sure to benefit these girls as they prepare for their upcoming tournaments.
Your U16A Ice Hawks entered the weekend looking to maintain their hold on a berth in the 2019 Provincial Championships and were able to do so by securing a victory against Newmarket. Facing tough competition, the team had an up-and-down start to the weekend but settled-in on Saturday with the win and, although not able to pull-out a victory, capping-off the tournament with a strong game against the first place squad from London. The team is looking forward to continuing this level of play rolling into their next tournament.
Also looking to solidify their chances at a berth in the Provincial Championships, the U19A Ice Hawks came away with 3 points after going 0-1-3 for the weekend. Playing without a couple of roster players, the Hawks battled hard all weekend, earning 3 ties (coming back from behind in 2 games) and 3 points toward Provincial rankings.
KEEP UP THE HARD WORK…...GO HAWKS!
