Long Term Athlete Development (Sault Ringette Club)

PrintLong Term Athlete Development
Did you know that our program is developed following age-specific guidance developed by Sport Canada and made specific to Ringette by Ringette Canada?

Long Term Athlete Development (or LTAD)  is designed to create opportunity for all athletes to develop to their full potential and to improve the overall sport experience and is based on the stages of physical, mental, emotional and cognitive development.

For example, during the “Fundamentals Stage” where athletes range in age from 6 to 8, basic game skills and simple rules are introduced and athletes should participate in 1-2 weekly training sessions of 60 minutes each.

During the “Training to Train Stage” athletes range in age from 12-15 and should be provided with a program having a training to competition ratio of 60:40, 2-3 weekly sessions of 60-90 minutes each.
