U16 Team Strikes Gold at the Waterloo Winterfest
The Sault Ice Hawks made their presence known at the 2025 Waterloo Winterfest Tournament, sending three teams to compete this past weekend, bringing home gold and silver hardware. The Sault Ice Hawks teams showcased their skill and teamwork, making a strong impression throughout the tournament.
Gold for our U16B team!
The U16B Ice Hawks delivered an unforgettable performance, skating their way to the top of the podium and earning the gold medal against the St. Catherine’s Comets. The team demonstrated incredible resilience and skill throughout the tournament, finishing strong in the championship game to claim victory. This is the first gold medal for the U16B team of the tournament season.
U12A Team Earns Silver
The U12A Ice Hawks also fought hard and brought home the silver medal after a challenging tournament run. Facing tough competition, the U12A team battled against several skilled and challenging opponents, working very hard to earn their hard-fought silver medal against the Barrie Blizzards.
U14B Delivers a Strong Showing
While the U14B Ice Hawks narrowly missed the finals, their performance was impressive. The team needed a 6-point win in their final game, and the game just came short against the St. Marys Snipers in a 5-1 victory. Winning two of their three games, the U14B team showed strong skating and smart passing, proving they are leaders in their division.
The Team Behind the Teams
Tournaments like the Waterloo Winterfest are not just about the players. The Sault Ice Hawks owe much of their success to the dedicated coaching staff, bench staff, and team managers who tirelessly guide and support our players. A special thank-you also goes to the parents and families who help make these tournaments possible. From organizing meals and driving hours in a snowstorm to arranging team-building sessions, their behind-the-scenes efforts ensure that the players can focus on what they do best—playing ringette. With a gold, a silver, and a series of strong showings, our Ice Hawk teams have set the stage for continued success in the season ahead. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and families who made this tournament a success.
