Sault Ice Hawks Proudly Represent at Northeast Regional Ringette Championships

This past weekend, North Bay hosted the Northeast Regional Ringette Championships, bringing together 37 talented teams and 600 players from across the north, including Timmins, North Bay, Sudbury, Iroquois Falls, and Sault Ste. Marie. The Sault Ice Hawks proudly sent four teams to compete in Ringette's hometown.

Our U10 team wrapped up their impressive season with a silver medal finish. This team should be incredibly proud of their achievements, having already captured multiple gold medals throughout the year. A huge thank you goes out to the dedicated coaches for their guidance and commitment throughout the season.

The U12B team rose to the challenge, showcasing their skills and respect for the game. Their efforts earned them a well-deserved silver medal, and they represented the Sault Ice Hawks with true sportsmanship. Thank you to these players for demonstrating what ringette is all about and to their dedicated coaches for their leadership throughout this tournament and season.

In a thrilling matchup against their top competitor, the Sudbury Northstars, the U14B team fought hard and secured silver in an exciting game. These two teams have battled back and forth throughout the season, sharing victories, and this final showdown was no exception. In a special tribute from the Jacks family (Sam Jacks created Ringette in North Bay in 1963), the U14 team received their medals from Sam’s son Bruce Jack.  What a special moment for the girls!  Congratulations to our U14B players on their perseverance and skill, and thanks to their coaches for their support throughout this season.

The U16 team faced tough competition in a mixed division and battled to the semi-finals. Their determination and admirable competitive spirit were apparent throughout the tournament. This team also showed such sportsmanship and resilience against strong opponents that they deserve recognition, as does the support and guidance from their coaches.

With this tournament, the regional teams have concluded their season. A heartfelt thank you to all the players, coaches, parents, and sponsors who have made this year a success. The Sault Ice Hawks continue to make their presence known at every tournament through their skilled gameplay, unwavering sportsmanship, and enthusiastic fans. Here’s to another incredible season of ringette!
